Rain damage crops
The hailstorm and rain in Punjab has affected standing crops in 2,125 acres spread over six villages of Sangrur district. Farmers have demanded a quick assessment and financial compensation.
As per primary reports prepared by teams of the Sangrur agriculture department, 1,325 acre standing crops at Panjgrayan village is under water.
“At this stage, we cannot say that how much wheat or other crops have been damaged. The primary inquiry showed that fodder and vegetable crops suffered the maximum damage. We will send a report to the government soon,” said Jaswinderpal Singh Grewal, agriculture officer, Dhuri.
Affected farmers have demanded compensation and requested the Chief Minister for a quick assessment on crop damage.
