Polls near, no power tariff hike for now
With the Lok Sabha elections round the corner, the power tariff hike, which according to sources is inevitable, has been put on hold as of now. Already paying over 20 per cent surcharge and taxes per unit of electricity, the consumers in Punjab may have to shell out more after the PSPCL gets nod to hike the tariff.
Official sources confirmed that with the election code of conduct expected anytime, the government was not keen on burdening the consumers with the tariff hike.
