High Security in Delhi post terror alert for I-Day
Security deployment has been almost doubled in the Capital compared to last year in the run up to the Independence Day following Intelligence inputs about some terrorists aiming to target the city on August 15.
CCTV cameras have been installed in various parts, especially the Red Fort, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi would hoist the Tricolour. Around 350 such cameras have been installed in the Red Fort periphery and strict security check-ups have been put in place for the general public and audience.
Apart from this, the security has been beefed up in areas such as markets, airports, railway stations, Metro stations, near the residence of the President, Parliament complex and all other VVIP areas. Vehicles from other states entering the Capital will be checked. A senior Delhi Police officer said SWAT team would be deployed near the Red Fort along with around 350 police personnel, including 30 women staffers.
All the hotels in the city have been asked to keep a record of the visitors.
The Delhi Police have made precautionary arrangements so that anti-social elements or terrorist could not pose any threat.
According to a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer, security at the Delhi Metro and the IGI airport had been stepped up with the deployment of more than 600 personnel.
