World Hockey League Finals begins at Bhubaneswar : India draw 1-1 against Australia
Bhubaneswar, 2nd Nov: The World Hockey League Finals started from Friday at Kalinga stadium here from 1st November evening. The opening match was played between England and Germany. Germany defeated England by 2-0 goals and got its first point. In the second match between India and Australia ended with 1-1. Beginning the match on a high note, India took the lead in the 20th minute through a brilliant goal from Mandeep but Australia leveled it a minute later by converting a penalty corner. Both the teams tried for second goal, but could not get a scope and ended in a draw. In the eight-time tournament, all teams are guaranteed for a quarter-final spot as there are only eight teams. Last time at HWL Finals, India lost three of their group games and yet went on to win a bronze medal.
