Farmers take oath to conserve water
Members of the district unit of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh conducted a ‘Jal Panchayat’ at Dhaturi village in the district to motivate people for water conservation.
Virender Singh Badhkhalsa, state general secretary of the sangh, while addressing the villagers said that a farmer was the first victim of the water problem and forced to pay heavily for it.
“Maximum water is used by farmers either for agriculture or for rearing animals and he has to take initiative to save water for the coming generations,” he exhorted and cautioned that around 80 per cent of the sub soil water had already been drained out.
