Chief Minister visited Gajapati dist Wednesday, Announced enhanced compensation for the families of Landslide deceased
Bhubaneswar, 18th October (By Moanubhav.com): Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik visited Gangabada GP of Gajapati district yesterday to meet the affected people in the recent landslides due to heavy rain. Expressing deep sympathy for the bereaved families, CM said, this type of landslides never happened in Odisha history and it is completely a new phenomenon. We will do vulnerability mapping of hilltop villages and provide shelter homes where ever required.
Many villagers expressed their willingness to shift from hilltops to plains. For them, the Government will provide homestead land and pucca houses and also cover them under food, health and social security schemes, CM assured. These new habitations will be declared as villages and all basic facilities like drinking water, Anganwadi centres and health facilities will be provided. Children who have lost their parents will be provided education and other support by the state, He said.
Chief Minister further announced that the enhanced exgratia amount for the families of the deceased from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 10 Lakh and confirmed that the additional amount of Rs 6 lakh will be met from Chief Ministers Relief Fund (CMRF). Chief Minister also distributed land rights to ten families who want to shift from the hilltops. He directed the officials present to restore electricity and road communication on a war footing basic. Later CM went to Bhanjanagar of Ganjam district and reviewed the restoration work there. He also did an aerial survey of flood affected areas of Ganjam district, then returned to Bhubaneswar.
